The Role
This is a new role within our Estimating Department and drives the procurement and closing of project opportunities that fall within our respective disciplines of construction. The Estimator plans and coordinates to fill gaps in our master construction schedule. Additionally, Estimators support active construction projects by providing estimates on changes as they relate to extra work or changes in scope. Estimators must understand how to effectively use workplace technology such as Bid2Win, Bluebeam, and MS Project for the review of construction drawings, specifications, quantity take-offs, and scheduling. This posting is for an existing vacancy for an Estimator position in our Burlington office.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings and tender documentation
- Ensure compliance for closing bids
- Review and produce accurate cost estimates
A day in the life
- Creating preliminary schedules, and budgets
- Communicate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and the public
- Review of tenders undertaken to ensure that bid submission is completed with a high degree of accuracy
- Gathers relevant information from tendering packages
- Represent Bronte Construction at Preliminary Site Meetings
- Analyze specifications and construction drawings
- Plan and implement construction schedules alongside assigned project personnel
- Effective written and oral communication with clients and project representatives
- Lead and direct estimating admin support
- Creating technical proposals for submission to owners
- Oversee prequalification submissions
- Oversee RFQ and RFI's
- Quote change orders as needed
Requirements
- 5 years+ in Civil estimating, projects $1M+ in Heavy Civil
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bid2Win, Bluebeam, MS Project
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must have excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
- Full G License
