Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly

Shift Work Required: Shift work may be required

Rate of Pay: $31.99 per hour

The start date will follow the selection process.

Characteristic Duties: Under the supervision of a Foreperson.

Operate heavy equipment on CGS Construction and Maintenance Projects.
Operate bulldozer to grade and move materials.
Operate backhoe to excavate, lift and load material.
Operate front end loader to level or move material.
Operate municipal tractor with various attachments such as snow blower, plough, gang mower, aerator, etc.
Check assigned vehicle and report any repairs or maintenance required.
Clean and wash vehicles when necessary.
Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
Five (5) years of related experience.
Above average ability in operating several units of Heavy Construction or CGS equipment.
Ability to read and understand all equipment operator's manuals.
Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid Class"DZ" driver's licence and have an acceptable driving record.

Note

This includes mobile boiler operations.
Appointment to the position (mobile boiler operator) may vary, and conditions during the spring break-up will be the deciding factor.

This job is also being posted as a development opportunity. Should there be no fully qualified candidate for this position, a candidate who can be expected to meet the required qualifications within a reasonable period of time may be considered for this position as a development opportunity.

Development opportunity rate of pay: $30.39 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.
