Engineering Manager - Sudbury
CSG Talent are partnering with an innovative technology company seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead electrical and electronic product development across the full lifecycle, from concept and R&D through to production and optimisation.
The company is a leader in underground mining communications across Canada. This role will be on-site at their Sudbury, Ontario facility.
This is a leadership role for someone who combines deep technical expertise with commercial awareness and strong team leadership capability.

The Opportunity

You will lead the Engineering function, shaping both short-term development initiatives and long-term product strategy. Working closely with the CEO and cross-functional teams including Sales, Customer Service, Production, and Procurement, you will drive product innovation, operational excellence, and scalable engineering processes.
This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can balance strategic oversight with detailed engineering execution.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

Plan and deliver product R&D initiatives, including firmware, hardware, and software elements
Lead system integration and solution delivery
Oversee prototyping and product development
Maintain engineering documentation (BOMs, work instructions, datasheets, etc.)
Implement Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) driven by component obsolescence or production improvements
Collaborate with Production to optimise manufacturing processes
Support Procurement with component substitution strategies
Interface with certification bodies to secure required approvals

Strategy & Management

Develop long-term product roadmaps in collaboration with executive leadership
Own project planning, resource allocation, and delivery timelines
Manage engineering budgets and project costs
Oversee external/contract developers
Ensure adherence to structured development processes
Support applications for grants, funding, and government incentives

What We're Looking For

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics focus)
Minimum 10 years' industry experience
Proven leadership experience within engineering teams
Strong background in electrical/electronic product development
Experience with project management methodologies and tools (Basecamp, Asana, or similar)
Proficiency with:
Altium Designer
EAGLE
SolidWorks
Fusion 360
Strong documentation and lifecycle management experience
Fluent in English
