<p><b>About the Company</b></p><p>Our client, a leading Toronto-based engineering consulting firm, provides comprehensive and integrated building systems engineering services for electrical and electronic systems across both new construction and renovation projects.</p><p><br></p><p><b>About the Role</b></p><p>We are currently seeking a highly motivated and talented IT/Communications Engineer to join their dynamic team. Reporting to the VP of IT/Communications, this individual will deliver comprehensive building communications engineering consultancy across a diverse range of projects. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design of innovative, resilient, and adaptable IT/Communications systems for complex building environments - while growing technical and leadership skills in a collaborative and supportive culture.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Conduct site surveys and existing condition assessments for IT/Communications systems.</li><li>Prepare and present technology evaluation reports and equipment selection recommendations.</li><li>Lead the conceptual and detailed design of IT/Communications systems.</li><li>Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams.</li><li>Develop tender drawings and technical specifications for bid packages.</li><li>Support project management activities, including client engagement and contractor coordination.</li><li>Participate in construction administration (RFIs, submittal reviews, site meetings).</li><li>Collaborate closely with internal multi-disciplinary teams and external consultants.</li><li>Engage with clients to understand project objectives and provide technical guidance.</li><li>Stay current on emerging IT/Communications technologies and industry developments.</li><li>Mentor and support junior team members as part of professional development efforts.</li><li>Contribute to the firm's knowledge base and continuous improvement initiatives.</li></ul><p> </p><p><br></p><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.</li></ul><p><br></p><p> <b>Required Skills</b></p><ul><li>Proven experience in the design of IT networks, communications cabling systems, and IT infrastructure within building environments.</li><li>Proficiency with AutoCAD and REVIT for developing design and construction documentation.</li><li>Working knowledge of relevant industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, IEEE) and best practices for IT/Communications design.</li><li>Practical experience conducting site assessments and surveys for IT/Communications systems.</li><li>Familiarity with structured cabling, wireless systems, data center infrastructure, and LAN/WAN networks.</li><li>Strong understanding of consulting engineering workflows and multi-disciplinary project coordination.</li><li>Experience supporting construction administration processes (RFIs, submittal reviews, site meetings).</li><li>RCDD certification or willingness to pursue certification.</li><li>Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation or eligibility is considered an asset.</li><li>Exposure to Smart Building technologies, IoT systems, AV systems, or building automation.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and present to clients.</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.</li><li>Interest in or experience with sustainable building design and energy-efficient technologies.</li><li>Collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to project challenges.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Preferred Skills</b></p><ul><li>Exposure to Smart Building technologies, IoT systems, AV systems, or building automation.</li></ul><p> </p><p><br></p><p><b>Pay range and compensation package</b></p><ul><li>Enjoy a collaborative, dynamic environment with:</li><li>100% employer-paid health insurance</li><li>Wellness & fitness reimbursements</li><li>Professional development & CPD opportunities</li><li>Modern office with gym, EV charging & café</li><li>Monthly team lunches & social events</li><li>Annual retreats & travel support</li></ul><p></p>Create Your Resume First
