Job Brief:
The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician is responsible for performing various electrical and instrumentation activities. This skilled technician is adept in the fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, adjustment, and repair of electronic, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic control circuits and systems. The technician, who may hold senior electrical or dual certifications, will support all electrical call-outs, maintenance tasks, and small project requirements. Additional general duties may be assigned by management as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Installs process control and measurement instrumentation on existing and new field equipment and processes (transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.)
- Performs mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification; removes and installs small piping and tubing.
- Rebuilds control valves and tune controllers.
- Performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation (calibration, replacement and tests as required); maintains field instrument records and standards.
- Provides support to operations in process control.
- Troubleshoots equipment and systems.
- Uses test equipment and hand tools.
- Consults manufacturer’s manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to determine test, construction, and maintenance procedures.
- Inspects and tests operation of instruments and systems (using pneumatic, electrical/electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments) to diagnose faults.
- Repairs and adjusts system components (sensors, transmitters, programmable logic controllers, etc.); removes and replaces defective parts.
- Calibrates components and instruments according to manufacturers’ specifications.
- Participates/complies with company safety programs & company policies.
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 10 Years of Experience in Oil and Gas Maintenance and Construction.
- Dual ticketed and estimating electrical experience considered an asset.
- Estimating skills an asset.
- Basic computer knowledge and experience.
- On-call support as required.
- First Aid/CPR w/ AED, OSHA 30, and Safeland, with preference for OSHA500.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
- Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
- Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech’s standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years).
