About PFD Style

PFD Style is a design-enabled apparel sourcing agency connecting North American retailers with manufacturing partners across Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. We're part of the Pakiza Group, Bangladesh network—an established manufacturing and sourcing ecosystem serving major European retailers including NEXT, PEPCO, LPP, and OVS. Now we're building something new: a North American sourcing concierge that combines Pakiza's manufacturing depth with localized design capability and the agility that mid-market retailers actually need.

Our Canadian headquarters is in Vancouver, BC, and established merchandising and sourcing operations in Bangladesh. We're expanding our factory network across Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Turkey, and Peru.

The Opportunity

This is not a role where you'll inherit a team, established systems, or a playbook. This is a building role - arguably a co-founding role - where you'll construct our multi-country sourcing operation from the ground up alongside our CEO.

You’ll be the operational backbone of our North American business: the person who ensures clients get what they need, when they need it, at the right price and quality. You’ll manage our entire supplier network outside Bangladesh, build new factory relationships across nine countries, and serve as the primary authority on production execution. This is a role where you can flex all your knowledge and experience to build a team that amplifies your expertise and values.

What You’ll Own

B

Factory Network Development

  • Identify, vet, and onboard factories across Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Turkey, and Peru

  • Conduct factory audits (or coordinate third-party audits) covering capability, capacity, compliance, and quality systems

  • Negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and payment terms

  • Build and maintain relationships with factory ownership and management

  • Hire and manage local representatives or agents in each country as volume justifies

Client Delivery & Production Management

  • Oversee sample development and approval processes from tech pack to PP sample

  • Monitor production timelines and intervene proactively when orders are at risk

  • Coordinate QC inspections, lab testing, and shipment logistics

  • Serve as escalation point for production problems—and solve them

  • Translate buyer requirements into factory-actionable specifications

Commercial Growth

  • Support new business development with sourcing strategies, country recommendations, and competitive costing

  • Advise on product categories and price architectures achievable in each region

  • Identify opportunities to consolidate volume or optimize production placement for margin improvement

  • Help clients navigate tariffs, duties, origin requirements, and trade compliance

Infrastructure Building

  • Hire and manage country-based representatives as we scale toward $3M+ monthly order volume

  • Establish SOPs for factory communication, sample tracking, production reporting, and quality management

  • Build the operational infrastructure using modern software tools that lets a small team punch far above its weight

  • Document institutional knowledge so the operation can scale beyond you

Who You Are

You’ve built sourcing operations before - or you’ve been the person who actually made things happen inside a larger organization while others took credit. You’re ready to own the outcome.

Experience

  • 10-15+ years in apparel sourcing, production, or merchandising

  • Direct factory management experience in at least 3-4 of our target countries

  • Track record of building or significantly scaling a sourcing operation

  • Deep understanding of what North American mid-market retailers expect: quality systems, compliance documentation, testing requirements, and delivery precision

Background

We’d be particularly interested in candidates from:

Sourcing Companies & Trading Houses: Li & Fung, Leveraged Apparel, Synergies Worldwide, TAL Apparel, Shandong Ruyi, Crystal International, Esquel Group, Epic Group, Hirdaramani, MAS Holdings, Brandix, or regional buying offices serving North American retailers

Retailer Sourcing Teams: Target, Walmart, Kohl's, Gap Inc., PVH, VF Corporation, Hanesbrands, Gildan, lululemon, Aritzia, or comparable mid-market and mass retailers with global sourcing operations

Academic Background: Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Parsons School of Design, London College of Fashion, RMIT, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Institute of Textiles and Clothing), NC State Wilson College of Textiles, Philadelphia University (now Jefferson), or equivalent programs with strong merchandising/sourcing curriculum—though we care more about what you’ve done than where you studied

Attributes

  • Existing factory relationships you can bring or quickly activate

  • Comfort with ambiguity and the messiness of early-stage operations

  • Willingness to travel 30-40% of the time, including extended trips to Asia and other sourcing regions

  • Self-direction—you won’t have a team in Victoria to delegate to; you’ll be doing the work

  • Working knowledge of trade compliance, country of origin requirements, and preferential tariff programs (USMCA, GSP, etc.)

Valuable Additions

  • Experience with workwear, uniforms, basics, or similar categories

  • Familiarity with Canadian and US customs and import processes

  • Product development or technical design background

Compensation & Upside

We’re committed to making this role genuinely lucrative for the right person—not just competitive, but reflective of the outsize impact you’ll have.

Base Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and existing network

Performance Bonus: Meaningful annual bonus (20-40% of base) tied to:

  • Margin performance on orders you place and manage

  • Successful factory onboarding in new countries

  • Client retention and satisfaction

Equity / Profit Participation: We’re open to order commission arrangements for the right candidate. If you’re helping build this into a $20M+ operation, you should participate in that value creation.

Benefits: Comprehensive health coverage, flexible PTO, and travel expenses covered

Why This Role

It’s a building role, not a maintenance role. You’ll construct something from scratch with the backing of an established manufacturing network. Few sourcing roles offer this combination of startup autonomy and infrastructure support.

Your work will be visible and consequential. In a two-person leadership team, there’s nowhere to hide—but there’s also no one between you and the impact you create. Every factory you onboard, every client you help land, every problem you solve will directly shape the company’s trajectory.

The timing is right. North American brands are diversifying supply chains away from China dependence. Tariff uncertainty is creating demand for sourcing partners who can navigate complexity. Mid-market retailers are underserved by the big trading companies. We’re positioned to capture this moment.

You’ll work from arguably the most beautiful place in Canada. You will be living and working in Victoria, BC with our office in downtown Vancouver.

The Honest Reality

We want to be transparent about what you’re signing up for:

  • Small team, big ambition. Right now it’s the CEO, an Executive Assistant, and our Bangladesh merchandising office. You’ll be employee #4 in North America. There’s no middle management, no established processes outside Bangladesh, no one to hand things off to.

  • Hands‑on execution required. You’ll be writing emails to factory owners, chasing sample shipments, reviewing lab test reports, and getting on planes until we hire new staff in countries outside Bangladesh. This isn’t a strategy role—it's a do-the-work role with strategic influence.

  • Startup pace, startup uncertainty. We need to scale to $2M+ monthly orders to build the team you’ll eventually lead. Until then, you’re building the plane while flying it.

  • Geographic complexity. Nine countries means nine sets of regulations, cultures, time zones, and factory dynamics. You’ll need to context‑switch constantly.

If this sounds exhausting, it’s probably not the right fit. If it sounds exciting—like the kind of challenge you’ve been waiting for—we should talk.

To Apply

Send your resume and a brief note (no formal cover letter needed) explaining:

  • Which of our target countries you have the deepest factory relationships in

  • The sourcing operation you’re most proud of building or contributing to

  • What excites you about this particular opportunity
