Overview
Director Corporate Financial Reporting – ICOFR at Canada Life – permanent, full‑time. This role reports to the AVP, Corporate Financial Reporting – ICOFR and contributes to the ongoing enhancement of the company’s global Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) program.
Responsibilities
- Provide monitoring and advisory support to operating segments, IT risk and compliance teams, and business units over the scoping, improvement, and greenlighting of IT general controls.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure alignment, audit readiness, and address IT findings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Prepare global ITGC updates, assessment results, and potential gaps for senior management, the audit committee, and other stakeholders.
- Coach and mentor team members, developing them into future leaders.
Qualifications
- Progressive experience in IT risk and controls for at least five years.
- CPA or other relevant designation (e.g., CISA) is a strong asset.
- Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards, including COSO, COBIT, NIST, and other IT frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management skills to collaborate across business functions and segments.
- Project management experience is a strong asset.
- Experience with insurance and financial institutions is a strong asset.
- Experience with SOC1, SOC2, and ISO certifications is an asset.
- Experience with coaching and leading a team.
Location & Compensation
Locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg.
Base salary: $128,200 – $178,200 per annum (base only; variable components such as annual bonus are not included here).
