Role Summary

We’re for looking a creative, solution oriented leader who is a brand believer with a passion for connecting business drivers to customer needs, unlocking the power of brand storytelling, and leading a team to develop and execute seasonal strategies for the beauty and lifestyle business within Canada’s largest grocery retailer

This leader will be a key strategic partner to divisional/category stakeholders and counterparts across the enterprise. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of building effective marketing strategies, leading teams to execute and ultimately delivering results with best in class marketing campaigns across brick and mortar, digital, and social media. The Director, Marketing will be comfortable taking initiative independantly, building and mentoring diverse teams, creating processes and structures that enable success, and stretching to connect the dots to ensure brand right, business driving outcomes.

This roles sits out of our Brampton office and Downtown Toronto office. The successful candidate must be flexible to travel between the two offices.



What you’ll do:

  • Enterprise Strategy & Alignment: Support the VP in driving the marketing organization’s strategic priorities within the brand team.
  • Works collaboratively with the other marketing teams, and LCL partners to bring enterprise best practices to the division/banner/category, proactively seeking opportunities to find areas of convergence where it adds scale and value
  • Work cross-functionally with our business partners and marketing partners across grocery banners and Joe Fresh to build and execute dynamic marketing programs that build value for our customer and the broader business

  • Oversee the integration of H&E and HABA within broader, enterprise owned properties, services, COEs, business units and channels.
  • Manage vendor relationships and drive execution of vendor-funded programs in-store
  • With the Control Brand team, act as a guardian of brand standards and properties across relevant categories.
  • Manage relationships with internal/external creative partners to drive brand right collateral
  • Leadership: Lead a team to develop seasonal campaigns that support overall business objectives of growth across H&E and HABA. Work cross functionally to build an integrated, data-driven cross-channel strategy to drive sales and establish H&E and HABA businesses as a key destination within the grocery shop.
  • Financial Performance: Accountable for improving marketing ROI and ROAS for respective portfolio through savings and growth opportunities and ensuring the marketing budget is managed in accordance with best practices
  • Planning: Leads the development of full-year marketing plans/integrated marketing campaigns for moderately sized portfolios with significant revenue/budgets; accountable for ensuring marketing briefs align to strategic objectives and deliver on results
  • Customer-centricity & Innovation: Drive leading edge, innovative marketing strategies across paid, earned and owned channels to ensure relevant and best-in-class campaigns
  • Drive opportunities to grow brand affinity and create a clear proposition to the customers on value and quality.
  • Attract new customers by leveraging data, research, insights and analytics

Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree (Business, Marketing preferred)
  • 8-10 years of experience in brand marketing across brick and mortar and digital
  • 3-4 years of leadership experience
  • Experience in beauty and/or lifestyle marketing preferred
  • Proven track record of building omnichannel strategies that drive business results
  • Proven experience leading cross functional teams and building new ways of working to support business needs with a collaborative energy and excellent presentation skills
  • Confidence managing teams/budgets and pivoting in season to react to changing landscapes
