Summary


Reporting to the Director of AI Search and Content Strategy, the primary role of the Digital PR Specialist is to create accessible insurance writing and communication. Surex is working to protect Canadians, and one of our top goals is to help make understanding insurance products simple. This requires a great communicator who can write press releases and pitches to the media, as well as creating informative insurance content — whether thought leadership columns or product explanations.


Responsibilities & Duties



  • Write pitches and press releases about insurance developments as needed for distribution to the media.

  • Schedule and arrange interviews for our executives with media.

  • Work with other marketing teams in the industry to highlight Surex reports and data.

  • Write content as needed, such as thought leadership blogs, working closely with the Marketing Team to set priorities.

  • Work both independently and with internal teams, ensuring website content is written and displayed with SEO, AI Search and mobile usage best practices.

  • Collaborate and execute against a calendar of upcoming content.

  • Stay informed on key trends within the insurance landscape.

  • Work cross functionally with Marketing, Distribution, Technology, and Finance to achieve departmental goals.

  • Additional tasks as assigned by management.


Qualifications & Skills



  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

  • Minimum two years of experience in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, PR or a related field

  • Experience using AI tools such as Gemini and Claude.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in managing a CMS to build and edit content.

  • Basic understanding of AI Search and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

  • Previous experience with media monitoring tools such as Meltwater or Cision is considered an asset to the role.

  • A background writing about insurance or personal finance is considered an asset to the role.
