Digital Agronomist
Job Description
Type: Full-Time Travel: Up to 75% during peak seasonAbout aerialPLOT
aerialPLOT is a web-based platform designed for agricultural research and on-farm evaluations. We automate the extraction of data from aerial imagery at operational scale, reducing the reliance on manual collection and subjectivity. The platform gives researchers, agronomists, and ag businesses a way to analyze, manage, and share crop data in real time across the growing season. Our analytical tools are built to help users learn more every trip to the field.
We're headquartered in Troy, Ohio, with a team of digital agronomists, data scientists, drone pilots, and software developers operating across the U.S. We're now looking to grow into Canada, starting with Saskatchewan.
The Role
You'll start at aerialPLOT by learning how to fly drones using our platform and how to process that data using our methodologies and workflows. At the same time, you'll be learning how clients use this data for crop development, product evaluation, and on-farm research. Your frontline fieldwork is a critical part of our approach to agriculture research.
After getting up to speed, you'll move into a hybrid role that combines field operations, agronomic support, and business development — helping to expand our Canadian client base while keeping client success at the centre of what you do.
Day to Day
Field collection — Plan and execute UAV missions at research farms throughout the season, following aerialPLOT SOPs to collect calibrated imagery across a range of crops.
Data processing and analysis — Use our workflow and geospatial analytics platform to process UAV imagery, extract digital crop metrics, and develop meaningful agriculture insights from research collected across the country.
Client support and education — Help onboard new clients, conduct midseason and final data reviews, and translate imagery data into practical agronomic recommendations. You'll work with seed companies, biologicals firms, independent researchers, and others who rely on our platform.
Business development — Build relationships within the Canadian ag research community, support sales conversations, and help identify where aerialPLOT fits for Canadian growers and researchers.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, Environmental Science, or a related field
Strong background in soil science, agriculture, plant nutrition, irrigation, and crop research
Experience with aerial imagery, remote sensing, and precision agriculture
Ability to analyze complex datasets and pull out trends and insights
Strong communication and presentation skills across both technical and non-technical audiences — candidates will be evaluated on their ability to clearly present who they are and what they bring
Comfortable managing multiple projects with limited guidance in a dispersed team
Familiarity with emerging ag tech, on-farm applications, and field operations
A practical mindset — you lean toward solutions that work in the field, not just on paper
Technology savvy

Technical sales or business development experience

Why aerialPLOT
This is an early-stage role in a new market. You'll have a hand in shaping how we operate in Canada — from the clients we work with to how we adapt our approach for Canadian cropping systems. Our platform captures full-season crop dynamics through repeated aerial measurements, and the data our digital agronomists collect is the foundation for everything we deliver. You'll be part of a small, focused team that understands agriculture and takes the work seriously.
