Job Summary


Reporting to the Manager, Public Relations & Advancement, the role of Development Officer, Prospects and Partnerships focuses on building, managing, and strengthening strategic partnerships and philanthropic relationships that advance institutional priorities, support student success, and contribute to long‑term sustainability.


Specific Duties


Develops and manages strategic partnerships that support the mission of the institution by:



  • Identifying, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with industry, community organizations, foundations, Indigenous partners, alumni, and government.

  • Serving as a key point of contact for external partners seeking collaboration with the institution.

  • Working with academic and administrative departments to identify partnership opportunities aligned with institutional priorities and community needs.

  • Supporting the development, negotiation, and documentation of partnership agreements, MOUs, sponsorships, and gift agreements in collaboration with internal partners.

  • Representing the institution at community, partner, and patron meetings and events.


Supports fundraising and development activities through partnership engagement by:



  • Identifying philanthropic opportunities within partnership relationships.

  • Supporting the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate, foundation, and community‑based gifts and sponsorships.

  • Facilitating giving options that support scholarships, bursaries, endowments, programs, services, and facilities.

  • Ensuring donor and partner intent is clearly documented and respected in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency regulations and institutional policy.

  • Preparing partnership proposals, briefings, and impact or stewardship materials.


Collaborates internally to advance institutional priorities by:



  • Translating institutional priorities into partnership‑ready opportunities and cases for support.

  • Coordinate institutional events, partner recognition activities, and engagement initiatives.

  • Tracking partnership activity, outcomes, and engagement metrics to inform planning and reporting.

  • Provides back up in the absence of Development Officer, Donor and Alumni Engagement as required.

  • You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.

  • You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills & Qualifications



  • Recognized two (2) year diploma in Communications, Business Administration, Non‑profit Management, Public Administration or other related field

  • 3 years or more experience in partnerships, development, fundraising, external relations, or community engagement; a combination of related education and experience may be considered.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail, spelling and grammar

  • Demonstrated maturity, professionalism, and sound judgment when engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders and external partners

  • Strong interpersonal, relationship‑building, and negotiation skills

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project coordination skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments

  • Skilled in planning and executing events and development projects, managing timelines, budgets, and logistics effectively

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365

  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM is an asset

  • Experience working with MOUs, sponsorships, or partnership agreements is an asset

  • Experience working with Indigenous partners or community organizations is an asset

  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with corporate, foundation, and community partners to advance organizational goals

  • Skilled in engaging donors, sponsors, and patrons through personalized stewardship strategies that foster loyalty and long‑term support

  • Expertise in identifying and cultivating partnerships with corporations and foundations, aligning proposals with CSR and philanthropic priorities

  • Proven ability to design and implement fundraising campaigns and sponsorship programs that drive revenue growth and donor satisfaction

  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with internal teams to coordinate efforts, streamline processes, and deliver on partnership commitments

  • Ability exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and navigate sensitive negotiations with integrity

  • Skilled in planning and executing events and development projects, managing timelines, budgets, and logistics effectively.

  • Experience using data and performance metrics to guide strategies, measure impact, and continuously improve outcomes

  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
