Job Summary
Reporting the Manager, Public Relations and Advancement, the role of Development Officer, Donor & Alumni Engagement focuses on strengthening and expanding relationships throughout the region with current donors and alumni through strategic stewardship, engagement planning, and personalized relationship management. The Development Officer works collaboratively with advancement, communications, and institutional partners to design and implement donor- and alumni-centered initiatives that enhance participation, giving, and advocacy.
Specific Duties
Engage donors in supporting the mission of CNC and its students
- Cultivating the existing donor base to solicit repeated and higher levels of giving.
- Developing individualized engagement strategies and communication plans.
- Providing personalized stewardship reports, stories, updates, and impact materials.
- Facilitating donor giving options for awards, programs, services and facilities.
- Maintaining relationship documentation and track engagement metrics.
- Working with the Development Officer, Prospects and Partnerships to welcome new donors.
- Assisting new donors in understanding awards processes.
Develop an active Alumni community that supports the mission of CNC
- Cultivating strong relationships with past students through programs, events, or communications.
- Coordinating the development of alumni programs and events.
- Drafting and editing various alumni communications and writing assignments.
- Developing program(s) to educate current students about the value of being a CNC alumnus.
- Strategizing and collaborating with faculty and departments to share resources, integrate messaging, and maximize exposure and benefits to alumni.
- Tracking, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting alumni engagement metrics to help inform future strategies.
- Provides backup in the absence of Development Officer, Prospects & Partnerships as required.
- You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.
- You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Recognized two (2) year diploma in Communications, Business Administration, Non-profit Management, Public Administration or other related field
- 3 years or more experience in donor relations, fundraising, external relations, or community engagement; an equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail, spelling and grammar
- Demonstrated maturity, self-confidence and poise to deal appropriately with a wide variety of people and situations from the student level to high-profile community leaders
- Collaboratively works with others in achieving common goals
- Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills. Public speaking experience considered an asset
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and effectively problem-solving skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365
- Experience using Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM is an asset
- Experience working with MOUs, sponsorships, or partnership agreements is an asset
- Experience working with Indigenous partners or community organizations is an asset
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, fostering trust and engagement through personalized communication and stewardship
- Ability to prepare accurate reports demonstrating outcomes
- Experience in the design and implementation of engagement strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Experience in event coordination and financial management of such activities
- Maintains confidentiality
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and events simultaneously
- Ensure timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
- Ability to analyze metrics to report and provide recommendations using data insights to optimize outcomes and report progress
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
