Deputy GM — Asset Management & Mining Systems - China

Purpose
Provide leadership for asset management strategy, lifecycle planning and mining systems (fleet management, maintenance systems, spares, reliability) to maximize equipment availability, reduce cost and support TD&SP objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Define and implement asset management framework (ISO 55000 aligned): lifecycle planning, maintenance strategies, reliability engineering.
- Oversee the maintenance and reliability programs across sites; lead condition-based and predictive maintenance adoption.
- Drive optimization of spare parts, inventory strategy and procurement alignment.
- Lead selection, implementation and integration of mining systems (EAM/CMMS, FMS, telematics) and data-driven maintenance analytics.
- Coordinate capital and sustaining maintenance plans with Asset Renewal and Mine Planning.
- Manage vendor relationships and major contracts for maintenance and equipment services.
- Deliver KPIs, budgets and continuous improvement programs for availability, mean time between failures and maintenance cost control.
- Build maintenance capability and competency programs.
Key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Equipment availability and utilization (%).
- Mean time between failures (MTBF) and mean time to repair (MTTR).
- Maintenance cost per tonne or per operating hour.
- Spare parts criticality and inventory turnover.
- Percentage of condition-based/predictive maintenance adoption.
Qualifications & experience
- Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering or Mining Engineering; certifications in asset management desirable.
- 10+ years experience in asset management/maintenance in mining with leadership responsibility; experience with CMMS/EAM implementations.
- Strong reliability engineering, contracting and inventory optimisation experience.
Reporting & relationships
Reports to: TD&SP GM.
Direct reports: Heads of Maintenance, Reliability Engineers, Systems Analysts, Inventory & Purchasing leads.
Interfaces: Operations, Procurement, Finance, Automation & IT, OEMs.
Authority
Approve maintenance strategies and standards, recommend maintenance CAPEX/OPEX to TD&SP GM, authorize system changes within delegation
