Position Overview
The Deputy Director is the second‑in‑command for Sandcastles Childcare Inc. and will partner closely with the Director and Board. You will oversee day‑to‑day operations across both locations, lead staff, manage compliance and operational performance, and take on increasing responsibility for financial and organizational decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations across two childcare centres (travel between centres required).
- Ensure licensing standards, health and safety practices, and regulatory requirements are consistently met.
- Lead centre‑wide quality initiatives and track operational KPIs.
- People Leadership
- Supervise educators and support ongoing staff development.
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, relief coverage, and workforce planning.
- Address performance issues, mediate conflict, and support a positive workplace culture.
- Finance & Administration
- Monitor annual budgets and report to the Board on progress.
- Support fee policies, subsidy processes, and vendor/supply management.
- Ensure accurate, timely record‑keeping and financial audit readiness.
- Stakeholder & Family Engagement
- Communicate clearly and professionally with families on centre matters.
- Support enrollment management, waitlists, and family transitions.
- Represent Sandcastles with professionalism in all community and parent interactions.
- Governance & Reporting
- Prepare monthly operational dashboards and risk updates.
- Present quarterly to the Board and take on increased governance responsibility over time.
- Serve as Director during Director absences.
