Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking a Custodian for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Custodial Department.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors across the university campus.

Key responsibilities include:

• Cleaning: including windows, light fixtures, entrance matting, and floors;
• Vacuuming and steam cleaning carpets;
• Disinfecting washrooms, showers and locker rooms;
• Dusting all ledges and waxing floors;
• Re-arranging and lifting furniture;
• Collecting waste and recycling from all areas and disposing of it properly;
• Replacing paper products and sanitizers;
• Reporting all significant incidents to Security Services;
• Removing snow at entrances; and
• Setting up classrooms.

Skills

You will have:

• The ability to operate custodial equipment;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• The ability to perform physically demanding work; and
• Proven knowledge of safe chemical handling practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum completion of Grade 10 education.
• WHMIS certification.
• Minimum of three years of experience with cleaning in a similar type setting.
• A Building Service Worker Certificate is an asset.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
