Job Description

CTN+Prairie Regional Project Manager

The CIHR Pan‑Canadian Network for HIV and STBBI Clinical Trials Network (CTN+) was originally established in 1990 as a cornerstone of the Canadian federal AIDS strategy and now encompasses all STBBIs (sexually transmitted and blood borne infections). With four Scientific Think Tanks and five Regional Teams, CTN+ facilitates and supports high‑quality, investigator‑driven clinical trials and innovative non‑interventional research in a range of clinical areas. The strength of our Network comes from the people and teams committed to supporting and conducting high‑quality research. Organized across functions and purposes, our organizational structure ensures the coordination of CTN+ activities while embedding community voices, Indigenous perspectives, and regional priorities. The CTN+ prioritizes the growth of regional research capacity by fostering, developing, and supporting research teams across Canada, with one team each in British Columbia, the Prairies (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba), Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic. These regional teams, which include researchers, community members, and Indigenous representation, champion the knowledge needs of those in their local communities, with a focus on capacity building, engagement, upholding Indigenous rights, and recognizing the power of research and knowledge mobilization to improve health equity across the country.

Primary Purpose

The Project Manager of the Prairie regional team (Prairie Hub) is based at the University of Saskatchewan and supports Prairie Hub co‑leads (2 academic researchers and 1 community researcher) to foster STBBI research, partnerships and community engagement in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta. This position also supports the implementation of regional and national STBBI research studies.

This position reports directly to the Prairie Hub academic co‑lead at the University of Saskatchewan. It oversees the day‑to‑day administration of the Prairie Hub and liaises with the other regional and national hubs. This is a fully remote position, with possible travel including an annual national gathering of the CTN+. The ability to work independently, balance multiple deliverables and coordinate teams across Canadian time zones is required. Confidentiality, tact and discretion are also required.

    • Participate in monthly national CTN+ administrative meetings

  • Coordinate project development and grant writing among diverse stakeholders

  • Support the development and implementation of the Prairie Hub community engagement strategy

  • Work collaboratively with academic and community co‑leads to ensure that the research objectives laid out in the CTN+ grant are met, and the Prairie Hub is supporting members of the research team

  • Create an inventory of STBBI research in Prairies (with support from CTN+ researchers and affiliates)

  • Facilitate ongoing communication within and among regional teams, and strengthen networks among members of the Prairie Hub

Education

A graduate degree in a related field, PhD preferred. Formal education obtained in a related field of study (diploma, certification or degree), will also be considered, as well as a combination of education and experience.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing health research projects, including clinical trials, at a provincial or national level, and 3 years or more of grant development experience.
