What you will be doing


Responsibilities


The Counter Sales position is responsible for greeting customers and receiving and generating their orders efficiently. You will provide courteous, prompt, and efficient service to customers, offering assistance with product availability, pricing, and sourcing. You will act as the face of Gerrie Electric and ensure accurate pick, pack, ship, and receive processes. This position supports the Tri‑City region (Guelph, Cambridge, Kitchener).


Warehouse Duties



  • Grow and maintain relationships with customers.

  • Connect with customers to address questions and resolve issues through face‑to‑face, email, and phone.

  • Handle pricing, order entry, sourcing products, and expediting.

  • Continuously learn electrical, lighting, and automation products and share your knowledge with customers.

  • Perform in‑store merchandising of day‑to‑day stock, new, and promotional products.

  • Pick, pack, ship, and receive Gerrie products.


Customer Service / Sales



  • Maintain friendly service and a positive company image.

  • Service customer needs promptly and efficiently.

  • Handle customer returns and defectives.

  • Handle customer orders.

  • Provide assistance/backup in shipping and receiving as required.

  • Promote products and contribute to branch sales.

  • Provide direct sales services to the general public.

  • Provide pricing and availability.

  • Enter customer orders into the business system following Gerrie procedures.


Product Knowledge



  • Maintain current knowledge of electrical industry products.

  • Develop knowledge about substitutes.

  • Source products and provide technical information.

  • Continue developing skill set related to Gerrie Organization, the Electrical Industry, and the field of Sales.


Teamwork and Collaboration



  • Work with other departments as required, conveying a professional corporate image that represents Gerrie Electric values.


General



  • Responsible for preparation and balancing of cash sales.

  • Ensure all shelves are stocked and material is put away timely.

  • Ensure float counter and all transactions accurate and balanced.

  • Ensure timely completion of any/all special tasks assigned by management.

  • Select and pack orders.

  • Perform wire cuts as per Gerrie documented procedure.


Quality



  • Accuracy of transactions/orders.

  • Ensure understanding of and adherence to ISO policies and procedures.


What you bring to the table



  • High School Diploma.

  • Some experience/knowledge in the electrical/industrial distribution field is an asset.

  • Previous customer service experience.

  • Math skills are essential (measurement conversions, pricing, etc.).

  • Multi‑tasking in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Organizational skills.
