Airswift is seeking a Project Estimator to work for a major mining client on a 1-year contract.
Project Overview
The Client(s) are planning to expand the underground workings of the existing nickel mine, an underground base metals mine located in northern Ontario, Canada. The Clients intend to establish a Joint Venture("JV") to develop mining operations accessed via an existing mine infrastructure.
Role: Estimator
Reports To: Project Controls Manager
Location: Site-based
Duration: 28 February 2026 to 31 March 2027
Objectives
Estimator: Provide accurate and timely cost estimating services for all phases of the project, including early work, shutdown execution, and post-shutdown activities. Ensure cost control and support change management processes.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for all phases, including shutdown execution and early work.
• Validate contractor estimates and provide independent cost assessments.
• Support change management by preparing cost impacts for scope changes.
• Maintain estimate basis documentation and provide monthly cost reports.
Required Expertise
• Estimator: Strong background in mining and industrial projects, proficiency in estimating software, and knowledge of Canadian cost norms.
Deliverables
• Estimator: Detailed cost estimates, estimate basis documentation, monthly cost reports, change impact assessments.
Additional Support
• The company providing these resources shall detail any additional personnel, tools, or support required to successfully complete this scope of work
Compensation:
$55–$75/hr depending on experience, classification, and contract structure. Final compensation will be determined based on candidate qualifications and client requirements.
