Job Description
A growing North American manufacturing organization is seeking a Controller to oversee the financial operations of two business units in Canada and the United States. This is a senior hands-on leadership role with responsibility for financial reporting, costing, budgeting, forecasting and the overall controls environment. The position leads a knowledgeable accounting team and works closely with executive leadership across operations and finance.Key Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise Accounting and payroll
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure confidentiality of financial information
• Manage costing (labour and OH) and cost updates within the ERP
• Perform financial analysis and interpret operational and financial results
• Lead annual budget development and quarterly forecasting
• Manage cash flow, including foreign exchange (FX) considerations
• Oversee Canadian and US sales tax compliance
• Prepare weekly, monthly and ad hoc reporting packages for leadership
• Act as the primary contact for external auditors and insurance partners
• Manage fixed assets, ROI analysis, amortization and related reporting
• Support other departments with ERP training, process improvement and special projects
• Other duties may include benefits administration, corporate credit card programs, company vehicle administration, and third party liaison
Qualifications
• University degree in Business, Accounting or related field
• CPA designation preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within manufacturing
• Strong understanding of accounting, costing and control procedures
• Proficiency with ERP systems and strong Excel ability
• Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with operations and support a friendly, steady team environment
