The Opportunity The Community Outreach Volunteer plays a critical role in the raising awareness about Parkinson Canada’s programs and services at the community level.
Volunteers attend health and wellness fairs to share and promote various Parkinson Canada’s programs, services, educational opportunities and new initiatives. Your Contribution As a Community Outreach Volunteer, you will represent Parkinson Canada in person during community fairs and events. Your friendly approach and great communication skills welcome people to Parkinson Canada and inspire them to learn more about what we offer. You will be responsible for travelling to the venue and setting up physical displays.
What is Needed to Succeed in this Role? · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.· Strong organizational skills.· The ability to provide on-site outreach support during community fairs and events.· Have general knowledge about Parkinson Canada & how Parkinson’s Disease affects those living with the disease and their families.· The ability to act as a liaison between Parkinson Canada and the community to provide promotional support during health & wellness fairs.· Able to lift 30 lbs. · Ability to travel to various venues within your community and surrounding areas. CommitmentThis is a casual volunteer opportunity and operates on an “as needed,” basis. The commitment time is dependent on the schedule of events and fairs that we are attending. Daily commitment of the events may range from a few hours to a full business day commitment.
