Job Description

The Communications and Marketing Specialist is a well-supported, important position within our firm. You will build a comprehensive understanding of our brand, voice, and marketing objectives to tell our unique story, while meeting strategic marketing goals for the practice. It is a role that is critical to advancing our external communications strategy, website, industry presence and business development efforts.



Through this position your work will be directly connected to writing original content for external audiences on our website and social media platforms. You will also focus your time and effort on supporting internal programs and the work of the Marketing team. You will be contributing to the longevity, voice and long-term goals of our brand and business.

During your onboarding you will have time to build a comprehensive understanding of our unique business structure, clients, and how we work every day across our three offices. You will use this knowledge to craft narratives that reflect key themes and brand objectives to a diverse audience on different platforms. You will work with our leadership team to aid in the production of longform thought-leadership content and help develop and write our project descriptions and related content for our proposals and media platforms.

Beyond communication and written pieces, you will dedicate time and effort or organizing our presence at events and industry related happenings. This includes updating calendars, researching, and updating the shared resources connected to our participation and attendance. This work extends to building a comprehensive planning process for industry awards, including helping to write our complex submissions.

You will have the opportunity help in the search for proposals and new business, working on the creation of standardized marketing material across our three offices. Your command of our writing style will also support our intranet needs and advance the launch of our new external website. As a communications and marketing specialist, the position is also responsible for the creation of original content for our social media channels and coordination photography of our projects and events.



This role reports directly to our Marketing and Communications Manager. You will work closely with all Studio Directors/Associates and will be supported by learning and collaborating with studio members and team leads.

Responsibilities

  • organize, and structure our mapping of industry events and our attendance/participation at them.
  • organize and structure our approach to industry awards.
  • in identifying and searching for new business opportunities, RFPs, and potential clients.
  • the creation and preparation of business development material.
  • execute regular RFP searches and endorse viable opportunities with executive summaries.
  • and write industry specific content for the development of proposals, qualifications packages, and presentations.
  • business development submissions and collateral are well-organized, error-free, and submitted on time.
  • with architects and project managers to gather project-specific information to write comprehensive project narratives for our Project Sheets, Website, and social media.
  • in the development and maintenance of the firm’s brand guidelines.
  • manage and structure the firm’s online presence, including regular content contributions to our website and social media channels.
  • in the planning, organization, and intent for project photography.
  • the planning and execution of branding and promotional campaigns.
  • compelling written content for marketing materials, articles, and case studies.
  • in creating and sourcing engaging visuals, including graphics, photography, and videos.
  • with subject matter experts to gather technical information for content creation.
  • and update our resource library of corporate CVs, staff bios and related material.


Qualifications

  • of a bachelor’s degree focused on marketing, graphic design, management, business administration, or architecture.
  • and understanding working with brand standards, including content creation and long-form writing.
  • with an ability to motivate others regarding marketing initiatives, training, understanding and accountability.
  • creating and scheduling content for corporate social media accounts.
  • of creative and presentation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite a strong asset.
  • to work effectively and respectfully with staff, managers, and team members.
  • years’ proven experience in a marketing or communications position, preferably in the A/E/C space.
  • ability in developing, monitoring, and advancing communication programs.
  • efficiency in MS Office software

Office Description:

This position is based out of our Toronto studio. This location is easily accessible by TTC or car, conveniently located directly on the Yonge Subway line, at York Mills Station, with underground access to our building. Our studio overlooks the Don Valley, and our open concept emphasizes our collaboration when it comes to our culture and project work.
