Our Montreal based client is seeking a senior BI development resource (Cognos) for a permanent full time position starting ASAP. This could be remote or hybrid. The salary is 120-140k, plus bonus, benefits etc.Responsibilities:Is a senior BI architect that can transpose the conceptual data model. The BI architect is also expected to create metadata layer.
Ensure that all models (conceptual to physical) are complete, coherent, and consistent. Ensure that the metamodel layer is aligned with Availability, Performance and Quality. Collaborate with the data engineers from getting the data to the transformation toward the data repository. Act as a BA to have business requirements align with the data architecture and vice-versa.
Develop and perform tests on various enterprises and provide dashboard solutions with help of Cognos software and assist all end users. Coordinate with data architecture and modeling team to design databases and prepare reports for same. Prepare all reports for management with help of Cognos Report/Dashboard Tool. Investigate and resolve all data issues and analyze all business requirements and perform interview with all stakeholders.
Coordinate with all customers and analyze test queries and analyze client issues and assist all application analysts to translate all workflow requirements to efficient data points. Prepare all designs and code for various Cognos reporting objects and ensure compliance to all best business practices in industry. Monitor work and ensure optimal utilization of all SQL scripts and document all database requirements and analyze data anomalies and prepare reports for cycle. Prepare all documents for reporting objects and monitor and resolve all desk ticket issues and perform troubleshoot on all Cognos objects to prepare reports and ensure compliance to all schedule.
Provide support to all Cognos issues and maintain knowledge on all new techniques and prepare reports for all warehouse functions. Required qualifications and profile (Relevant to the project) Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or closely related discipline 5 years experience with Cognos Analytics Nice to have: 3 years experience with PowerBI Nice to have: 3 years experience with ETL (i.e SSIS, ADF, Power Query, Spark) Nice to have 3 years Matillion, Snowpark, Snowpipe, PySpark, Kestra, AWS Data Pipeline, Talend, IBM Cloud Pak for integration Strong understanding of Data warehouse and business intelligence concepts and best practice processes. Experience with administration, deployment and security setups within Cognos. Strong experience in creating Framework models with different layers.
Strong experience with Report development. Experience creating Dashboards in Cognos Analytics. Experience and Proficiency in writing SQL queries. Experience with Cognos report performance tuning.
Good understanding of Java scripts usage in Cognos. Must have excellent analytical, conceptual, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communications skills, able to work effectively with business users to understand and clarify requirements as well as educate and resolve end user reporting issues. Strong business processes / objectives understanding skills combined with the relationships with data Experience using Data Modeling tools and creating conceptual data models Has used and created multiple data layers including the use of metadata for exposing DataMarts to visualization tools A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
Able to understand rapidly the patterns and directions taken by the Practice Lead Good priority management Can translate and animate sessions with businesspeople and other SMEs Can define the access rights management solution.
