If so, we are looking for you to join our teamWe currently have over 150 childcare across Canada & USA and are constantly expanding; come and grow within the companyAbout the positionReporting to the Chief Food Ambassador, acts as an integral member of the Kids & Company team to assist in the overall management of day-to-day operations of all food preparation and cooking at the kitchen, through the conscientious application of Kids & Company standards to achieve our mission statement.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the cooking, baking, and food preparation for delivery to daycare centres on a day-to-day basis.Ensure safe food storage and disposal; including taking daily logs of food temperature and refrigerator/freezer temperatures.In addition to the regular food production schedule, the kitchen assistant can be responsible for preparing special meals and snacks for all allergen children, vegetarians, and any other special dietary needs.Ensure effective cost control by minimizing waste, proper food allocation, controlling food inventories, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.Complies with all health and hygiene requirements under all food safety and handling legislation.Oversees kitchen operations including scheduled cleaning and sanitizing of appliances, counters cupboards, and drawers.Require to prepare food for field trips, school-age programs, and community events from time to time.May require to deliver prepared food to daycare centres on some occasions.Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time on the needs of the daycare centres.What you needCurrent Food Handler Certification3 – 5 years of Sous Chef or Executive Chef work-related experience.Experience in a daycare environment would be an asset.Red Seal designation or similar certification an asset.Valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Criminal record checkAbility to push, pull and lift up to 45 poundsWhat we offerBe recognized for your contribution, dedication and hard work, and go home knowing you’ve helped the world progress.Comprehensive benefits package (Medical / Dental / Vision exam) 100% covered by the companyPositive work environment with encouraging team members and opportunities for career advancement35% off our child care services and receive 20 days of FREE backup child care per year Kids & Company is an equal-opportunity employer.Kids & Company is committed to providing accommodations to persons with disabilities so thatthey may pursue employment opportunities in a similar way to other applicants.
