Job Description

VistaCare Technologies is a North American leader in comprehensive fibre-optic network solutions and telecommunications infrastructure services, delivering end-to-end execution from planning and design through to construction, implementation, and maintenance. Established in 2003, VistaCare has grown into a trusted provider of turnkey communications infrastructure, serving major clients across Canada and the United States with one of the largest aerial construction fleets in the country and a highly trained workforce.

Our full suite of services includes project management, engineering and design, aerial and underground network construction, fibre splicing and testing, and long-term network maintenance programs. We also provide specialized consulting expertise to help optimize infrastructure investment, simplify operational processes, and support strategic decisions related to technology deployment and market expansion.

VistaCare’s strength is rooted in deep technical proficiency, safety-first execution, and an unwavering commitment to customer success. Our teams deliver high-quality solutions across a broad range of environments, from fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) builds and transport network installations to multi-dwelling and wireless small cell projects.

We are committed to investing in people and technology, consistently advancing capabilities through training, modern tools, and leading-edge systems that support both field operations and digital transformation. This positions VistaCare not only to meet the demands of today’s infrastructure challenges but to anticipate and lead in future market opportunities.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the President, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a critical executive hire responsible for strengthening and scaling VistaCare’s operational engine. As the organization evolves, the COO will act as the strategic integrator; aligning vision, execution, and financial discipline.

The COO will ensure operational excellence, transparency, and data-driven decision-making across the business. This role serves as a key counterbalance to growth, evaluating new opportunities to ensure expansion is sustainable, profitable, and operationally sound.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth & Diversification

  • Translate VistaCare’s growth vision into executable, scalable operational plans.
  • Lead operational readiness for new markets and new service lines,
  • Partner with the President and executive team to evaluate M&A opportunities and assess the operational viability of new offerings.
  • Drive the implementation and adoption of digital platforms,
  • Create clear visibility between field operations and finance, ensuring accurate, timely billing and real-time margin reporting.
  • Oversee material procurement, vendor relationships, and cost-control strategies to protect profitability and cash flow.

Executive Leadership & Accountability

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and Board of Directors on operational performance and risk.
  • Establish and modernize KPIs that enable data-driven decision-making and accountability across the organization.

About You

You are a senior operations leader with a background in business, engineering, or a related discipline, and a track record of building scalable, high-performing operations in growth-oriented organizations. Your experience may span construction, infrastructure, industrial services, or adjacent industries, and you bring a diversified perspective shaped by exposure to complex, field-based operations.

You have played a meaningful role in scaling organizations, whether at the executive table or as a key operational leader; and understand how to introduce structure, systems, and accountability without stifling entrepreneurial momentum. You are comfortable working across disciplines, translating strategy into execution, and partnering closely with finance to drive visibility, margin control, and informed decision-making.

You bring strong business and financial acumen, a systems-oriented mindset, and the confidence to challenge assumptions while building trust with experienced, long-tenured leaders.

Interested candidates are invited to submit a cover letter and résumé outlining their experience and interest in the role to Shardeigh McGillivray at shardeigh@venor.ca or Rose MacAuley at rose@venor.ca .
