Our client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial affairs for their Canadian manufacturing operations, based out of their Lethbridge facility. This role acts as a strategic business partner to the Plant Manager and plays a key role in supporting operational and financial decision‑making. Compensation & Hours
- Rate of pay will be $150K/year plus bonus
- Monday through Friday, daytime hours with occasional overtime expectations
Position Summary
- Lead financial compliance and reporting, including GAAP (U.S. & Canadian), tax filings, payroll, and regulatory requirements
- Partner with the leadership team to support strategic planning, business growth, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Build, mentor, and develop a high‑performing accounting team, including performance management and succession planning
- Oversee core accounting operations, including AR/AP, general ledger, reconciliations, payroll across multiple provinces, and month‑end/year‑end close
- Manage financial forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and analytical reporting to support informed business decisions
- Establish, maintain, and audit strong financial controls, processes, and documentation to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
Required Qualifications
- CPA designation
- Minimum post‑secondary education of bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
- Minimum of 10 years’ finance or accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing setting
- Minimum of 5 years’ controller experience, preferably within a manufacturing setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead, influence, and collaborate effectively
- Proven organizational, time‑management, and analytical skills with a sharp eye for detail
- Advanced problem‑solving abilities, including root‑cause analysis and familiarity with lean management principles
- Solid financial acumen, including GAAP (Canada & U.S.), forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- High level of technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools
- Self‑starter mindset with a demonstrated ability to seek improvements, support internal audits, and thrive in a manufacturing or standard‑costing environment
Bonus Points For
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with hands‑on exposure to plant operations
- Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, WIP, and variance analysis
- Proven ability to partner with Plant Managers and Operations teams to drive cost control and efficiency
- Familiarity with production KPIs, yield, scrap, and labour efficiency metrics
- ERP experience in a manufacturing setting (Oracle, JDE, or similar), including system‑driven reporting and controls
