Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Carpenter's Assistant to join our construction team. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the carpentry field. As a Carpenter's Assistant, you will assist skilled carpenters in various tasks, contributing to the successful completion of construction projects while gaining hands-on experience in the trade.
Duties
- Assist carpenters in measuring, cutting, and shaping wood and other materials for construction projects.
- Help with the assembly of structures such as frameworks, walls, and roofs.
- Support drywall installation and finishing processes.
- Participate in flooring installation tasks, including laying tiles and other flooring materials.
- Aid in construction painting and finishing work to ensure high-quality results.
- Assist with cabinet installation and other woodworking projects as needed.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely under supervision.
- Help maintain a clean and organized job site to promote safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required on job sites. (50lbs)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and willing to take direction from experienced carpenters.
- Must have own transportation
- Candidate must reside in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Must be unemployed or underemployed (working less than 20 hours per week or in a field unrelated to their training).
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in Newfoundland & Labrador. Temporary residents may be eligible if they are international graduates with a Post-graduate Work Permit or have an Open Work Permit.
- Must not be receiving federal or provincial pensions or WorkplaceNL benefits.
