We provide support to a 50 year-old woman who is confined to an electric wheelchair but despite these challenges is fun-loving, very adventurous and likes to get out and get the best out of life Her household includes her housemate, a large, boisterous, & very loving dog, and two lovely kitties.
Job description
To provide support in all aspects of daily life.
Duties:
- Assisting client with personal hygiene, toileting, bathing and getting dressed including safely operating a lift and doing transfers.
- Assisting client with housekeeping, including laundry, general cleaning, cleaning the cat's litter box and other tasks as requested by client.
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Preparing food and feeding client.
- Administering medication.
- Transporting client to appointments and other daily errands.
- Providing support with social and recreational activities.
- Providing pet care including taking the dog out for short daily walks.
Training for lift equipment and other adaptive devices will be provided as part of orientation.
Current openings: 1-2 people to help fill the following shifts
Weekend mornings: 3 hours starting at 10am (could possibly flex up to one hour earlier)
Weekend evenings: 6 hours starting at 5pm or possibly 4pm if needed
Qualifications:
- Caregiving experience
- Ability to provide homecare services
- Willingness and ability to perform heavy lifting/transfers with proper use of a lift
- Good communication and social skills
- Ability to prepare meals well
*Applicants who are afraid of animals or unable to communicate with ease in English will not be considered.
Requirements:
- Clean criminal records check no more than one year old
- Minimum of class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record - non-negotiable
- Two reference letters
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: From $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 18 per week
