THE ROLE As an Arena Operator/Outdoor Facility Maintainer with Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services, you will be part of a team proud to provide safe, quality arena and outdoor sports facilities to members of the Canadian Armed Forces community. You will take satisfaction seeing them at play and enjoying the facilities and get to experience the thrill of the cheering fans as you drive the Zamboni down the ice surface.
Daily, you will ensure the ice rink is maintained, dressing rooms are ready and equipment is organized and in proper working order. You will ensure outdoor facilities and sports fields are maintained and safe to use such as soccer fields, ball diamond, volleyball court, splash park, playground, etc. You will greet visitors, manage access to the facility and fields and answer customer inquiries. You will patrol the facility to ensure rules and regulations are being followed and equipment and facilities are safe for all those that visit.
If you enjoy the atmosphere of the play, are self-sufficient and feel a sense of accomplishment seeing others enjoying your hard work, this is the opportunity for you QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED Education, Certifications and Licenses College diploma or certificate in Facility Management, Resource Management, or a related field and some years of experience in a related field (OR An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience) Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification Valid Driver’s Licence (BC) Recreation Facilities Association of British Columbia Arena Ice Maker Course Recreation Facilities Association of British Columbia Refrigeration Safety Awareness Course Experience In operating and maintaining ice rink and outdoor sports facilities equipment In resource administration Competencies, Skills and Abilities Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
