Our client, a recognized national business law firm, is looking for an Advisor – Pursuits for the Toronto or Montreal office to come join their team.
The Pursuits Advisor is a national role that plays a pivotal part in managing the Firm’s proposal process to ensure a strategic approach that properly utilizes resources and promotes a high win rate.
This role manages the RFP process and collaborates with the Firm’s lawyers, Business Development Managers and internal subject matter experts to generate compelling business proposals and pitches. The Pursuit Advisor is primarily responsible for managing the go-no-go process to ensure a focus on strategic bids. Additionally, they will work closely with internal groups to develop pricing strategies, research etc. and will also provide support and recommendations to practice and specialty group leaders.
In this role, your responsabilities include:
Lead Business Proposal Development
- Acts as the lead for the proposal development process that includes the go-no go decision, evaluation of requirements, securing executive management approvals of the firm’s participation in all bids, providing recommendations with respect to bid team composition and pricing strategies;
- Responsible for drafting and compiling content for new business pitches, RFPs, RFQs, RFIs and other types of formal proposals at both the national and regional levels;
- Manages multiple proposals simultaneously, often with fast turnaround times;
- Leads the production process for proposal submissions, including drafting of responses, work-back schedules and compliance with requirements;
- Manages effort to develop and edit proposal content, in line with proposal strategy and bid requirements;
- Involved in bid team discussions on strategy, proposal pricing and puts forward recommendations on strategic pricing (discounts, AFAs, etc.);
- Engages the Knowledge Management team in the development of work plans where required;
- Ensures solution consistency, message, and win themes are reflected throughout the response;
- Reports on bid wins and losses, analyzes trends and makes recommendations for process improvement and greater visibility of activities and results within the Firm;
- Conducts debriefing sessions with submission team to determine future improvement of responses.
Administration
- Tracks, maintains, updates and archives pitches and proposal-related information in the firm’s various databases to support collateral development, website updates, directory listings, rankings, and other profile-building activities.
What You’ll Bring:
- University or college degree (with a major in marketing, communications or business preferred), and/or equivalent years of work experience in a business development capacity;
- At least 6 years of experience in a professional services environment (preferably law firms);
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Must be meticulously organized, detail-oriented and energetic;
- Proven skills in efficient and effective project management;
- Proven ability to develop relationships with leaders, partners and other practitioners in the firm;
- Must be able to provide strategic advice, especially in regard to the go-no go decision, to leaders and other practitioners in the respective industries and specialties and be creative regarding solutions presented;
- Capable of working independently, multi-tasking and prioritizing. Should be flexible to meet the needs of the firm and the job; Should be flexible to meet the needs of the firm and the job;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines without ongoing supervision;
- Strong diplomatic skills to deal with a large variety of personalities, with the ability to defend and present suggestions to senior lawyers;
- Proficiency working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
