Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various accounting functions. Duties

• Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
• Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end closing processes.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing and accuracy.
• Conduct bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain precise financial records.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Maintain accurate records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
• Collaborate with team members on technical accounting issues related to non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or securities law as needed.
• Contribute to the development of financial report writing and interpretation for management review.
• Mentor junior staff on accounting best practices, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and other financial concepts.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP and financial concepts.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), or other regulatory frameworks is a plus.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; experience with Microsoft Excel is essential.
• Knowledge of financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and journal entries.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams and mentoring colleagues.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Experience with public accounting or private equity environments is advantageous but not required. Pay: $45,000.00-$67,000.00 per year
