What is the opportunity?
Based out of and working with the Toronto Structural Transportation Group, the Bridge Construction Inspector will be involved in both small and large projects and assist in maintaining a high level of service for the structural practice at Entuitive. This position will be responsible for Bridge Inspection for projects in construction consisting of varying bridge types, structural materials, and delivery methods. Current projects include site work in the Region of Waterloo.
This role will also assist with the review of shop drawings, requests for information and other documentation. We would like to supplement our existing team with a self-motivated individual, who has a desire to work in a collaborative team environment. What will you do?
- Conduct field review for structural transportation projects and contract administrative duties such as shop drawing review to ensure adherence to the contract documents
- Review of contractor quotes for change orders
- Respond to RFI’s from the contractor to provide clarity and direction
- Review progress billings and issue Site Instructions
- Attend regular site meetings with contractors, other consultants, and clients
- Manage bridge construction inspection duties for multiple structural transportation projects in parallel
- Assist in budgeting, coordinating, and monitoring site time
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with contractors and clients
- Travel to site on a regular basis and as required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What do you need to succeed?
- A degree in civil engineering or diploma in civil engineering technology or related education specializing in structural engineering
- Minimum 2 years industry experience in bridge/transportation construction inspection
- Experience performing bridge/transportation structure construction inspection duties
- Familiar with contract types including P3, design build and lump sum delivery methods
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of construction materials and products used in bridge construction, with a focus on concrete and structural steel
- Working knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications
- Knowledge of the Construction Administration and Inspection Manual (CAITM) would be considered an asset
- Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs including Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
