POSITION SUMMARY:
The Process Improvement (PI) Engineer will support continuous improvement projects and product process development activities at the CSG Toronto Site. The PI Engineer is accountable for leading process improvement initiatives and delivering world class process design and improvements to support business. This role will address ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for employees as well as delivering new process introductions, operational cost savings, and capacity improvements. PI Engineers also support implementation of the Shawcor Management System (SMS) through continuous improvement activities increasing plant and office process efficiency, optimizing resource utilization, and eliminating process variability and wastes.
DUTIES:
Provide process engineering support to Product Engineering, Product Development, Product Management, and Quality Control in the development of new products and the maintenance of customer relationships as well as company quality standards.
Apply data driven problem solving techniques where required to address complex problems.
Execute process improvement projects to increase line efficiencies, reduce cost variances, increase product margins and improve quote competitiveness.
Support daily operations in support of live production. Provide technical support and direction to facility supervisors, line operators, and maintenance to ensure equipment and production runs smoothly so that monthly sales, company quality, and customer relationships are met. Perform efficiently applying appropriate problem solving and troubleshooting techniques.
Lead embedded technical knowledge training by both personal development, peer training and mentored training of junior members

Additional responsibilities of the role will include:
Self-driven and independently executing process development projects requiring data driven problem solving and decision management which can ultimately affect product quality and production efficiency
Selection and validation of tooling to process specifications and requirements
Collaboration with product management and product engineering to address customer needs and maintain alignment with production capabilities
Development and documentation of process capability and optimization strategies to yield high quality and improve operational efficiency of processes
Providing immediate daily support of production across the CSG Toronto Site when required
Providing CAD support for customer and internal designs/drawings and design development of tooling and process related engineering initiatives
Facilitating embedded knowledge transfer within the team regarding process engineering related activities and providing peer and junior mentorship/direction
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Holding Bachelor degree in Engineering (Preferred Industrial)
1 to 5 years of related experience
Minimum 2 years of experience & Practical (hands-on) knowledge and application of manufacturing systems and process improvement techniques
Minimum 3 years of specific experience in a manufacturing environment
Previous CAD experience
A high level of technical acumen and the ability to understand complex engineering/scientific relationships.
Technological aptitude to understand process tooling, equipment, instrumentation and data acquisition.
Highly analytical and capable of analyzing complex datasets
Basic project management skills (how to manage time, prioritize and organize travel and objectives etc)
Ability to lead / influence others without direct reporting responsibility (change management and strong interpersonal skills)
Ability to communicate with a global network (organizational and cultural sensitivity)
Presentation and reporting skills
Ability to work office based 40%, and plant based 60% of the time
Ability to travel occasionally
