The office of Julie Dzerowicz, Member of Parliament for Davenport, is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Senior Manager. Could you be the perfect fit?
Job Description
Reporting to the Member of Parliament, you will be responsible for the overall management of the Member’s office, including managing all staff, and overseeing human resources requirements in accordance with established House of Commons policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for implementing and overseeing processes, methods and practices that support the Member’s office business and information management requirements, and for ensuring effective and timely service, outreach, and communications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the Member’s staff and team and assist in hiring and training new employees.
- Oversee office activities and organize the workload in continuing support of the Member’s strategic and evolving agenda and objectives.
- Provide direction to all staff and interns and serves as liaison between the Member and staff where necessary, particularly in day-to-day problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Manage the Member’s day-to-day planning, prioritization and delivery of operational requirements including outreach, case management, correspondence, data, and communications.
- Oversee outreach and the scheduling of all the Member’s events and activities.
- Oversee the preparation of meeting agendas, briefings and reference materials required by the Member for meetings.
- Ensure emails, letters, and similar enquiries on a range of issues are prepared in a professional, customer-focused manner, while briefing the Member on follow-up requirements.
- Establish and manage processes that enable the effective and timely management, tracking and coordination of all information, requests, correspondence, invitations, etc. received by the Member.
- Manage all budgeting and finances for the Member while ensuring that House of Commons rules and policies are strictly followed.
- Stay up to date on House of Commons policies, procedures, and administrative issues.
- Represent the Member in a professional and effective manner in dealings with the media, constituents, key stakeholders, and other outside bodies.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have the following:
- University degree in business administration or another relevant field OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in progressively senior positions managing staff and resources.
- Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines and work independently to efficiently manage multiple and concurrent projects in a high-stress environment.
- Knowledge of office administration methods, processes, and practices, as well as of policies pertaining to human and financial resources.
- Knowledge of the processes, methods and systems supporting information management.
- Ability to research, analyze and synthesize complex findings within a short time frame.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to deal with people diplomatically and with tact.
- High degree of discretion and superior skill in building and maintaining work relationships with internal and external clients.
Asset qualifications:
- Knowledge or work (volunteer or paid) with any candidate of politician and any level of government.
Additional Information
Job title: Senior Manager
Location:Constituency Office, 1202 Bloor St West, Toronto, Ontario
Schedule:Full time (37.5 hours). Regular office hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
Salary:$80,000 – $100,000, commensurate with experience + attractive benefits package
