Senior UX Designer
Contract Duration 6 Months

Overview:
As part of Ontario’s building back better, the Central Waitlist Management (FY24-25) initiative aims to digitally enable stakeholders at a provincial, regional, and hospital level.
Applying a user-first approach, requirements will be developed throughout the duration of the initiative.


Deliverables:

Using Figma, design mockups and assets for a custom Web Application (Enterprise BI Platform).
Supporting product management and delivery with mockups, and design solutions.
Leading and facilitating product discovery and design sessions.
Establish a Design System and framework



Job Responsibilities:

Work with product management and lines of business to gather and analyze customer requirements and translate them into engaging and effective UI experiences
Ideate and conceptualize innovative UI solutions to solve complex end-user challenges.
Produce, personas and customer journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes
Lead design review sessions with internal stakeholders, reaching consensus and getting approvals on designs
Work closely with front-end developers and other product team members to successfully build, test, and deploy cutting-edge user interfaces and UI components
Establish product-specific UI/UX vision and standards while adhering to branding and accessibility guidelines
Lead customer experience and usability studies
Perform other duties as assigned by management


Must Haves:

Hands-on experience using Figma to design web application features and assets.
Provide UX/UI leadership and define best practices and methodologies: user-centered design, design thinking, and design sprints.
Proficient in UX design for web applications, preferably enterprise portals and websites, mobile, and responsive experiences (8 years+)
Must have strong facilitation skills and experience leading client workshops remotely
Work within a fast-paced and Agile environment
Proven UI design skills and experience



Desired Skills:

A degree in design or a design-related discipline (user-centered design, visual design, human factors, human-computer interaction, etc.) or equivalent experience
10+ years of experience designing web-enabled digital solutions
Experience with UX design for Web Portals (5 years+)
Expert knowledge of information architecture and interaction design, user-centered design process, and user experience principles and techniques
Demonstrated knowledge of branding, layout, color theory, typography and photography
Experience in Agile, Scrum, user stories, user flows, low and high-fidelity designs, and prototyping.
Experience with UI design.
Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, and Axure – 3 years
Experience in usability testing and accessibility compliance (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA))
Understanding of current and emerging technologies, design patterns, industry trends, standards, device, and browser capabilities
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to team members
Comfortable working within tight timeframes and with working creatively within specific constraints.
An impressive portfolio of recent work demonstrating UI/UX expertise in designing web and mobile applications
